Why Help?

Why should you help the USA F3B Team get to Jesenik in the Czech Republic?
  • The USA Has a Huge Depth of Talent Which Consistently Produces Top Performing Teams to Compete at the World Level.
  • To Keep the United States of America Competing at the World Level Your Help is Needed To Get The Current F3B Team to the 2018 Worlds in the Czech Republic.
  • In Spite of the Dominance of Thermal Duration Contests Throughout USA – F3B Remains The Formula One of RC Soaring.
  • The Popularity of F3B Soaring Competition in USA is undergoing a Resurgence and This Needs to be Maintained.
  • F3B Competition Encourages the Development of Model Sailplane and Radio Technology Which All Soaring Pilots Benefit From – (Look at the molded weapons you’re flying now.)
  • Your country has a proud history of involvement and success at the World Level in all forms of RC Soaring. The first ever F3B world champion was an American called Skip Miller and we all know who he is. The “winningest” F3B pilot in the world with 4 F3B world championships is also an American in Daryl Perkins. You can be proud that the USA has such a stellar record and you can participate in this remarkable history of success.

The challenge of competing at the Team Selects in Geenville Texas in November 2018 brought out the best in your US representatives and an extremely good team of pilots is the result. Every two years this process is completed and your team is selected to represent their country against the top pilots from all over the world. Success at the Worlds F3B competition requires an enormous amount of pilot talent along with very sophisticated multi-task flying machines and launch equipment. It is extremely expensive to get this equipment, aircraft and personel to Jesenik for the F3B World Champs in The Czech Republic in August. The AMA provides world championship team participation support which has recently been limited and is unlikely to cover more than about 1/4 of the expenses incurred traveling to and participating in the event.

So that the US Team can participate effectively, the Team engages in various Fundraising activities through-out the year preceding the world championships. Your contribution will be greatly appreciated and you can be sure that all funds raised will be used toward team expenses. (If more funds are raised than actually required, the remaining funds will be “carried over” to next years USA F3B team.)

You can also donate directly to the Team through the AMA.

You can make a cash donation directly to the F3B Worlds program either online via PayPal to paypal@teamusaf3b.com or by sending a check or money order to the AMA below. You can claim your donation as a charitable contribution because the AMA is a qualified 503(c)(1) organization. To take advantage of this you MUST make the donation check payable to the “Academy of Model Aeronautics” and make a note on the check that it is for the “F3B Team Fund” and send it to the following address:

Academy of Model Aeronautics Competition Department
    F3B Team Donation
    Att: Colleen Pierce
    5161 E. Memorial Drive
    Muncie, Indiana 47302

You can make a donation to the team, get a tax deduction AND increase your donation if your employer has a charitable matching donation plan. Check with your employer on their procedures for matching donations. The AMA will send you a thank you letter and confirmation of your donation for tax purposes. Thank you for your donations!

Thanks again for your kind support!
